Carlsbad Medical Center Expands Telemedicine Services
8/10/2023
Carlsbad Medical Center has further expanded its telemedicine services with this week’s launch of telenephrology, as part of a collaboration with Access TeleCare. The addition of this service will ensure 24/7 access to inpatient nephrology care to allow more patients needing kidney treatment to stay close to home for essential health care.
Through this collaboration, on-site physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff connect with an Access TeleCare board-certified nephrologist via secure, high-resolution technology in minutes. On-site clinicians have access to the highest level of telenephrology consultation to respond quickly to diagnose and treat patients with common nephrology conditions, including electrolyte disorders, chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, and renal failure.
Earlier this year, CMC launched its teleneurology service for patients experiencing a stroke or needing diagnosis and/or treatment for epilepsy, severe headaches, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological conditions.
Telepulmonology was added in 2022 and is offered on an outpatient basis through CMC’s affiliated medical group, Pecos Valley Physician Group.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Carlsbad Medical Center to help them serve more patients in their community,” said Chris Gallagher, M.D., CEO, Access TeleCare. “Our goals as a telemedicine company are to deliver clinical excellence first and foremost with every patient encounter and to help our client hospitals achieve their mission, vision, and goals for serving their communities.”
"We are pleased to expand CMC's telemedicine services with the addition of telenephrology," said Nick Arledge, CMC CEO. "Our collaboration with Access helps patients in our area receive specialized care without having to leave the community."
