Carlsbad Medical Center Kicks off Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive to Support Local Food Pantries
3/3/2025
Today, Carlsbad Medical Center kicked off its annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive benefitting several local food pantries and is inviting community members to participate in this effort to fight hunger in Carlsbad.
Peanut butter is a sought after item for food banks because of its high nutritional value and long shelf life. Yet, it is one of the least donated items. The Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive kicks off on March 3rd and will run through March 24th. “Carlsbad Medical Center not only supports the patients who come through our doors, we are also committed to supporting better health throughout our community,” said Nick Arledge, CEO. “An estimated 11% of people in Eddy County are facing food insecurity, which has a profound impact on overall health and well-being. With the Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive we can help vital community organizations reduce hunger in our area.”
Community members can bring donated peanut butter to the front lobby of Carlsbad Medical Center. Additionally, this year CMC is reaching out to other local groups and businesses to help with this project. If your business or organization would like to participate by donating peanut butter or by becoming a collection site, please call (575) 887-4160.

Carlsbad Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer Mark Staton and Chief Executive Officer Nick Arledge shop for peanut butter during the 2024 Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive. Last year, CMC collected 4,914 jars of peanut butter, which were donated to Jonah's House, the Carlsbad Community Kitchen and Abundant Harvest Food Pantry.
