Pulmonologist Joins Pecos Valley Physician Group

Carlsbad Medical Center and Pecos Valley Physician Group are pleased to announce the arrival of board certified Pulmonologist and Critical Care specialist Sunkaru Touray, MD, MSc, to Carlsbad. Dr. Touray is accepting new adult patients at Pecos Valley Pulmonology, located at 2410 W. Pierce Street, on the campus of Carlsbad Medical Center.

Dr. Touray received his medical degree from the University of Science & Technology in Ghana, and then completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

“We have not had a Pulmonologist in town for several years, so recruitment of this specialty has been a major priority for CMC,” said Cathy Hibbs, Carlsbad Medical Center CEO. “We are pleased to be able to bring this service back to Carlsbad so that patients with respiratory issues will no longer have to travel out of town to receive the care they need. Additionally, Dr. Touray’s Critical Care training will also be extremely helpful in taking care of our more critical hospital patients.”

Conditions treated by Dr. Touray include asthma, emphysema, chronic cough, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, lymphoma, occupational and environmental lung diseases, pleural diseases, pneumonia, pulmonary vascular disease, tuberculosis and many other respiratory conditions.
